The Perfection Of Persistence

Persistence, which we recognize as the ability to continue moving forward in the middle of setbacks and obstacles. It is an invaluable trait that we as humans have required to make significant achievements throughout history. Furthermore, it has been the most determining factor in all the great inventions, groundbreaking discoveries, and amazing accomplishments of mankind. I face a huge setback in my elder years, as well as an upcoming obstacle that I am unsure of overcoming. After nearly 70 years ( it seems unreal to even say that) I can share some of what I know. Partly from experience, some is what I was shown in my younger years, and some is what conventional wisdom says.

The Power In Persistence

Perfection of persistence

Persistence is the soul-burning determination to accomplish a goal even against challenges and adversity. This is the fuel that drives me (and everyone else) to push through obstacles, get back up, and learn from failures. To continue moving forward regardless of what we have to endure in the process. That never-give-up attitude can only drive success, regardless of the hurdles that may be ahead. What is more, even if I lose a battle, I readjust my approach and go on fighting the war.

I realized once I started to look at things clearly and without the influence of fear ( the great defeater) that by simply setting clear and meaningful goals I gained a real sense of purpose. And with a strong sense of purpose, you are more likely to remain dedicated to your objectives and push through the hardest of times. Additionally, keeping a positive and open mindset gives you a growth-oriented approach. In this mode, you can see setbacks as learning opportunities and allow improvement. That is something that has to be acquired because no one enjoys defeat or disappointment.

4 Benefits of Persistence

Firstly– Persistence encourages resilience allowing you to come back from setbacks with renewed strength. I have found when I face my challenges head-on I become more adaptable and gain new mechanisms for coping. This helps me over and over as I face future obstacles and setbacks. I am simply better at thinking on my feet critically and quickly. I am sure it is the same for almost everyone.

Secondly– Becoming a master of ANY skill takes time. Only through constantly putting effort and growing does anyone become a master in their craft or profession. Persistence is the thing that makes the difference between a master and someone who’s pretty good in their field.

Thirdly– Becoming successful is very rarely done quickly. It is almost always the result of laser-focused persistence toward specific goals. Learning and adjusting as they move forward. The path to success is very rarely straightforward. It is usually a matter of trial and error, pick yourself up and rethink what just happened, and make adjustments. Someone with determination and persistence is more likely to get to their dreams.

Fourthly– Everyone loves a story of persistence and determination. These stories lift our spirits and encourage us. You may think you are going through your journey alone, however, you would probably be surprised at the people who are seeing your journey and are (in some cases quietly) rooting for you to win. And if that isn’t the case right now – at some point in the future someone will be awe-struck by your journey. When you persistently go after your goals it can’t help but encourage others to want to do the same.

How Persistence Affects Personal Success

When it comes to personal growth and development persistence helps you transform into the better you. It gives you the confidence to face your weaknesses and push you out of your comfort zone. Moreover, it can let you have the determination to go after your personal goals. The more you overcome fear, the more it loses the ability to stop you from pursuing your dreams and goals. We have all heard it “You can’t live your life in fear of what might happen”. Guess what, it’s true. It may be scary to face the what-if in any situation. But the good news is once you have done it a few times- it is no longer scary but exciting. It actually boosts your confidence each time you do it and makes it to the other side.

    The Confidence Loop

    Persistence

The confidence loop is a real thing. every time you have success because you are persistent it, builds confidence. This also feeds your mind with positive feedback (which we all crave) and that drives you to accomplish even greater achievements. That repeats the experience and enables you to take on greater and more significant challenges and makes you more comfortable taking calculated risks.

Being a persistent person has been proven to make you equipped to face unexpected challenges in this life full of uncertainties. In addition, you have to have the ability to adapt to changing (sometimes rapidly) circumstances. This means embracing change as a growth opportunity instead of a setback to succeeding.

      Persistence on Professional Success

In the world of professionals, persistence has nearly always been the difference between success and mediocrity. With it, professional obstacles can be overcome and long-term objectives achieved with success. Without persistence, workers are much less likely to reach the success they could have otherwise.

The skills that are persistence-driven are resilience in the workplace, problem-solving, innovation, and long-term vision to name a few. All of which are crucial to success in the professional world.

        To Finish Up

The perfection of persistence is a testament to the human spirit’s indomitable nature. It is how we unlock the things in us that lead to unlocking our true potential and achieving the success we dream of. From personal to professional pursuits, persistence empowers individuals to win over the challenges of this life, master their skills, and leave their mark on the world.
